Cirque Du Soleil - Dralion

Well I guess I haven't written much in the past few months, nothing since October 2008 actually...  I find this rather odd, some thought it's because I haven't had much to write about when in fact, there has been WAY too much to write about, review and make note of so that one day I can look back on this and go waow, that was AWESOME!

I have to admit, I'm going to stray from my headline topic!  Correct, it says Cirque Du Soleil but I might give a bit of background as to what I've been doing in some kind of super-condensed-summarized form of story telling -_-

Let's see, October 2008, I can barely remember the big events and there's just been way way way too many!!!!!  All the goings on at cookie, house parties, raverlicious events combined with drum'n'bass events and the countless tuesday burrito nights (housemates thing with special guest appreances by many a friends!)... aaaah too many things.

One thing I failed to mention right now is that I've been at work taking care of an entire infrastructure, mind you, one that is on the verge of collapse and HAS collapsed a couple of times *sigh* won't get into THAT... but also doing desktop, licensing, budgets, dealing with politics and if you know me well enough you'd also know... I try to make sure everyone is happy, smiling and pleased with the IT Department... you know... the IT Team (of 1) which is absolutely positively incredibly impossible (unprobable?) to accomplish!  This has robbed me of my sanity and it's been a tough nut working for small potatoes in an environment filled with awesome people (well, ok some annoying -_-)...

Where was I *thinks* oh yeah--- It's been hard to find any time to type or update my blog! That's just that... no time at all!
This must change offcourse because I've had my fire and passion and all those wonderful span'ishy words fuel my thirst to make more dnb sets.  Not to mention a few people at work encouraging me and it's been an absolute thrill making music and knowing people will listen!

Not everyday you make a heavy KrachMacher style Set and people say "wow that's awesome I want more"...

Anyway, on with the show...

I've restructured IT at work with the help of my awesome IT manager, Establishing policies and auditing everything to make things fit...
I went to Sensation White at New Years Eve which I can't emphasise enough how AWESOME it was... I thought it was one of the best events ever offcourse *nodS*
I've been to Bad Company and Fierce @ Roxanne's parlour with wonderfully awesome, nice and dnb loving fans from work!!! ROCK ON!!!
Hmmm what else, *scratches head*, Well I have a huge alco collection now to make virtually any cocktail?  Ok not any but it's close enough?  There's everything from TripleSec to Dry Vermouth and Amaretto (which bart calls Dr.Pepper Liquere lol).

Lately though, and by that I mean on Sunday... I went to... Cirque Du Soleil...

I feel I don't have the necessary words, thoughts, creativity or ability to explain or review this event because it surpassed all my expectations and left me with a rather insane mental state that pushed me to go and book tickets for my entire family to go see it.

The MUSIC... waow... a soundtrack simply astounding, amazing and original!  No more repeats of The Rock remixed into Gladiator remixed into Pirates of the Carr--- well you get the point!
The COSTUMES... I don't know where to begin, the east meets the west in Dralion, perhaps I should have started with that!  It's Dragons meet Lions... and all the costumes the human brain can imagine for such an extraordinary event!
The PERFORMANCES... Unbeatable, I've simply never seen anything like it, from the trampoline acts to the hoop performances

THESE DUDES HAVE SKILLZ YO!  If that's not enough, how about this... Guy Laliberte (the founder) is a massive poker player... I mean seriously, you gotta go see this show! lollll ok non-related items i know but still!

I basically have no photos (not allowed) and no power right now to browse and upload and link images but hopefully in the coming days I will?

This ladies and gentlemen is a show unmatched in its field... I dare anyone to lead me to an experience better than Cirque Du Soleil - Dralion! 10/10

So many people ask me if we really play games a lot at work and if it’s really the same environment that they think of where people have fun all around and there’s always something cool happening around the workplace!  All I can really say is… yes… yes we do have a lot of fun, more often than I could imagine!  BBBUUUUT when it’s time to work, I work my ass off to accomplish as much as I can.  Quite strange that I see this “M.O” as someone once taught me (Method of operation!)… yes okay so I’m ESL or something pffft, anyway… I digress… to put things plainly, I think I complete twice to three-fold the amount of work I usually do by playing hard and working hard!  That works for me and it works very well! :)

Apart from the never-ending contracts, communication with US Headquarters *sigh*, licensing, documentation, usual admin stuff, new equipment purchase, budgets, purchase orders, inventory crap and … well a lot of things!  I put a LOT of effort into upgrades and improvements of server infrastructure.

This came into effect lately when I realized it’s just UNACCEPTABLE to keep working with the existing server room cable hazard and it’s time to pull an all nighter and fix the dang diddly sh*t f&#& blood sucking nerve racking mind draining … okay u know what, I want to write this huge article about how great everything is but im so tired from working 24hours that I’m just gonna cut to the chase… please find below the photos displaying the BEFORE and AFTER shots of what I would like to call my EPIC SUCCESS STORY!  Massive thanks to Damian for assisting me offcourse coz I was soooo tired even after coffee’s / energy drinks / sugar intake and what not…  BEHOLD, a MASTERPIECE!

*cough* Let’s not mention who made the “before” photo possible. Kekekeke…. *shrugs*

-- : BEFORE RAF : --

-- : AFTER (the Raffalicious effect) : --

I think i'll go to sleep now, but I must say, I'm usually pretty modest bout stuff... only in this case I have to say.... I .... ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Now I need a payrise LOL

de Blob wrap'n'launch
Written by Administrator

Ah boy, I've been so busy I've barely been able to spit out more posts on here for general consumption by my small but awesome circle of friends and family... or I should say Family and friends, yes, family comes first!

We just finished working on the new game for the Wii called "De Blob" which has gone GOLD! woohooo... I swear this game will revolutionize things because it's simply the best mix of colors, music and puzzles!
It's scoring 9/10 in a LOT of reviews and it's such an awesome game to play!

So lately we had our launch party which involved free food, free beer and an awesome band playing the awesome music from the game and much more... all amongst friends and in an awesome bar in the city, I _really_ enjoyed the free booze thing because that included the basic spirits *mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm*

After such a massive massive night where I went back home, fearing I have steps to climb till I get to my bedroom and approximately 4hours till I start my next work day, I MUST say... having a mattress outside my room, up against the wall was such a savior, here it is in the pic below :D

I've really been gettin mi self inna lots reggae music... Barrington Levy, Jamericans *laughs* I love that ekeke... Jamericans!  Basically all the dnb I have that's fast reggae I just get the slower versions :) Soooo awesome, I can't stop playing it 24/6 O_o

Anyway, I still haven't got photos of the launch party but it was definately such an awesome night, very enjoyable and it's awesome to see that I can be at a work environment that has such events on ^_^
The wrap up party was very interesting because I got to setup all the decks and drive around with lovely Raewyn to get it set @ Mofo Lounge... a fully decked out Moroccan stylised rooms with such a down to earth feeling and cool atmo, I am DEFINATELY heading back there at some stage...

Best of all offcourse, I GOT TO DJ DNB TUNES! I started off with the easy vibes the likes of Calibre and the signature album but then went random all over the shop on my favorite tunes, finally stepping things up into LK with Marky & Stamina and then... finally ran out of records coz I was on there WAYYY TOO LONG... so I chucked on my DUB/REGGAE DNB, omg was soooooo awesome!  Let's just say... up in the streets, they call it murderrrrrrrr!  I think Russ liked it the most so BIG UPS to that hahaha... here's Russ below

Here I am... Wooahahhahaooo

Also big ups to Raewyn... she's the best person ever and always has our back at work when sh*t hits the fan... although it's more like lots of trucks full of sh*t with lots of fans and it all explodes... but let's not get into ugly work analogies here... Either way, thanks for all your help Raewyn ^_^ You will probably never even read this page since it's my own little blog thing happening here for my own personal record-keeping but nevertheless... :)  the wrap up party was a smash-hit ^_^

Also a big up to JayJay and the bar crew for putting on that spectacularly amazing crazee bottle jumping, crazy hopping, flying liquid show at the bar!  Was awesome to stand n watch them drop the bottles kekekeke

The photos simply don't do the place justice, it actually looks almost 5000000000x better in real life and gives you this amazing sense of waow'ness, like the same sense you get when you cross the border into this mystical different country, if you've done that before that is! O_o Nevertheless though, I'll put this photo up of the cr3w and show a bit of what the atmo was like and the room decor` mmmmmmmmm awesome

The DJ up after me was also a hell of an act, he really was AMAZING... did some scratching, some amazing turntable trix and played some oldies but goldies in my opinion, all the funk and cool beats that you could hope for from where it all began! Thanks Marco :)

*yawwwwwns a lot*  ok i better sleep for now... much stuff broken that needs fixin @ my good ol work *stretches* *runs off to bed*... TO BE CONTINUED!...
(yes i know, exclamation acts as a full stop so u cant really put dot dot dot after it, but shmeh... my blog *narrows eyes*)

Latest News - Part 2
Written by Administrator
Wednesday, 10 September 2008 23:07

Howdy hey all...

So I'm sitting here tired as can be, have a meeting with USA Cisco people from THQ in the morning and figured I'd start yet another post... not sure how much text my fingers are willing to type out but I'll go as far as I can -_-

*much time passes*

kekeke ok ok so I'm dying for a cuppa tea now already!
Well... things have been awesome as of late, Cookie still on almost every weeks agenda!  Always an awesome time, always get in, well... almost!? There's a couple of security dudes that are so darn tight on letting people in when there's guest-list on *sigh* zif guest list lol, they got no clue what they talking about pffft.  Anyway I can get in, just have to explain my life story on how I know Ben and bleh bleh bout the rest of the bar cr3w etc etc hahaha, always works :)

Went on Friday to The Meat and Wine Co. on Southbank with fellow workmates, that was, AWESOME! More Wagyu beef please!  That meat is so so so tasty, so soft, so the best ever!  Go massaging cows, sake in their fur (do we clal it fur?) and beer for relaxation and make em eat more O_o hehehe so funny but it definately works I tells ya coz the rump is sooo yum.  As for drinks...  I had 4 beers at work, God bless that place ^_^ and then some port from Kevin (work kevin not bro-kevin) which was _not_ port but more a caramel infused chocolatey shot but nevertheless, I think I had a couple?  Then we get to Meat n Wine Co... Gin n Tonic... woopsies, when it's higher quality I should really mention the name -_- give em some credit... so yeah Tanqueray Ten Gin n Tonic ^_^ yummo, so refreshing too, God bless Juniper berries... psychadelic lol *drinks a barrel*.  Daz then grabs some wine that was meant for some other people (or brought over by mistake? kekke) and we then down a couple more wines, then hit Cookie after I finish my Wagyu 500gram *licks the plate* and hit the French Martini, honey vodka shots for Nicks bday (Happy bday if you reading this nick, however unlikely that actually is!), more Gin n Tonic's (this time Hendrick's) and God knows what else... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

*much time passes yet again*

Ok enough blabbering... I picked mum up from airport at about 4-5AM after gettign home at about 2:30-3am ^_^ so funny ahahaha...  she got back from Europe wooohooo, wish I was there hahahhaa... also, she found a Tshirt of mine that I bought ages n ages ago that says "Tell your mum to stop calling me" *sigh* I wonder where my Paranoia Tshirt went -_- pfff *listens to Lily Allen* YEAH LILLLLLYYYY kick ass!  mmm bitterness can be our friend many an hours sometimes lol, it's so odd -_- maybe it's just me -_- I've changed I know, shhh!

SOOOO I actually moved out now :) So awesome, my room is so so so freakin HUGE!  I got me a queen size bed, new mattress which is AWESOME.  I'm sitting here on my desk typing this message, my decks are spinning some vinyl in that heavenly scrunchy noise with the crackles mmmm hahahhaa... I have my own huge huge bathroom... I just really really needed this, particularly now, was very good timing *nods* Could have happened earlier I know but I've learned my lesson I think *pouts* *looks up* omg Michael Jackson remix in dnb hahaha "whyyyyyyy whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.... la la la la la Human Nature".  I remember hearing this at DJ Marky with Mark and Ben and co... was just the best f'ing gig EVER.  Sweaty, work the next day, secret gig and BOOM turns out to be one of the best things that ever happened in my musical events charter.

Back to the move... Now I don't mean to boast but I must say... living a mere 5minutes walk from work which is at a Games Developer/Publisher is just the best thing I have done for myself in a long long time.  IT is the same everywhere you go and here it's actually worse, I didn't realise how extreme the damage is there till I really looked into things !!BUT!! the atmosphere and the games and people there make it all worth every bit.  Let's just say it's just what I needed... puts a smile on my dial, makes me wanna work harder even but my gosh there's so much stuff broken lol I NEED TO WRITE A BOOK ABOUT ALL THIS STUFFFF!!!!!!!1!

I just realised some of my work peeps might read this stuff -_- hehehe that'd be funny, but only coz I'm raving on about things like it's the best thing ever working there lol.

I was told by several individuals that I should put more photos in my posts -_- but man, it's MY blog, I shouldn't have to put things into my blog if I don't want to... but okay I'll put a mere few from my last Cookie session, not wait.... the one before my last hahaha.

This offcourse is where I spend most of my times there now ^_^ Behold the Beloved Cocktail Bar of wonders, glory, food, mishaps, adventures, strange happenings, Ben's mooning sessions and where shoes are compared by the dozens O_o Don't ask!

Here's me and Bree (Leanne was with us too ^_^) @Cookie... was such an awesome night hahaha *huggles Ben too* My Cigar smokin buddy ROFL

How many fingers am I holding up man?

We always get around to the "strange-faces" sessions where we've had a bit too much to drink and we figure our facial muscles are much more capable of the usual, then... SNAP, someone takes a photo coz it's funny? O_O

Me and zee ladies ... reowr kekekeke, nah really they're freakin awesome! FINALLY Le comes for drinks (properly I mean)

I ALWAYS WIN THE FUNNY FACES COMP!  Look at me go!  I Look Legit!... Was I legitemately wasted? I don't think I was? O_o takes a lot to get me these days, All thanks to Ben for teaching me the way of "hold your drink".  I'm pretty sure I can compete with some russians out there -_- BRING IT!*

*after a hefty meal I meant!

Leanne prefers the French Martini I suggested (which was actually recommended by Karolina :D yes I won't take your credit!) and I happened to find this passionfruit thing in her drink which I knew I had to have *noddles*

hmmmmm I better sleep and continue my rants and photos another time ^_^ Apologies for cutting it short so sudden but yeah.. hmm.. actually MY BLOG so I'm not soooo sorry.  I feel like typing but itd be random chitter chatter...

Man I want that passionfruit -_-

OH OH I almost forgot... Here's what I call the "jeff goldblum" look hehehe WOOOOOOO

Realestate Galore!
Written by Administrator
Tuesday, 26 August 2008 01:24

So today we made some amazing progress in all things realestate.

Hmmm do I start with small or big news? I'm not sure !!!! EEEP okay okay small news first.  I actually got my land purchase into gear and will be settling in 6 months (hopefully) still waiting on some form of gurantee but WOWWWW this thing gonna make me some nice moolah.  I recommend land investment to ALL those who read this**

**sarcasm included, land is pretty low in terms of profit margins right now, wait a year+ or something... I just got lucky ^_^

The BIG news though... my family is now the proud owners of our home in Egypt, Cairo... Heliopolis... I'm sooooo wrapt bout that, we actually own it now, we cannot possibly lose it (yes it was rented before for some insanely low price!) but now we own every single bit of floor space there, our appartment, in one of the best suburbs ever, with spectacular views (well better than most in egypt) and quite central too :)

I thought this might be a good time to paste some photos with it all, make things interesting so here's some photos of our place below :) teehee..

This is our beloved Living/Lounge room, where my sister Claudie and I spent the best Xmas experiences as kids.  Naturally I used to get scared of santa O_o I also always hated miss piggy, yes U read correctly... and mimes.. omg.. i hate them all, KILL!  Eversince that nightmare as a kid I just never got over it... *runs in circles yelling*... revenge is mine!
